The WTT China Smash (中国大满贯) is a table tennis tournament organized by World Table Tennis (WTT) and held in Beijing. It is described as the highest-level series event organized by WTT. It belongs to the Grand Smash category, the top tier of the WTT Series calendar. The Grand Smashes are intended to be the pillars of the sport and the most important events in the table tennis calendar. The China edition has been held since 2024, and before the 2026 edition, Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin had each won one of the two China Smashes staged to that point.

Format and structure

The China Smash is one of the four Grand Smash events held each year. The 2026 edition was the fourth and final Grand Smash of the table tennis season. The tournament features five events: men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. Grand Smash events in general have a field of 64 players in each singles draw and a prize pool of up to US$3 million. Champions in each event receive 2,000 world ranking points.

The tournament also shares its venue and period with a youth event. The China Youth Grand Slam is held at the same site during the event, forming a linked programme.

Venue

The event is staged in the Shijingshan district of Beijing. The 2026 edition took place at Shougang Park, with a total prize fund of US$2,050,000. The Chinese name of the 2026 edition is 2026年世界乒乓球职业大联盟中国大满贯, and the site is listed under the address of Shougang Park in Shijingshan.

Past champions

In the 2024 edition, Lin Shidong continued a run of titles by defeating Ma Long in the final. In 2025, the men's singles title went to Wang Chuqin and the women's singles title to Wang Manyu, while the men's doubles pair was Lin Shidong and Wang Chuqin. The Lin Shidong, Ma Long, Wang Chuqin and Wang Manyu names here refer to Chinese players who have been among the sport's leading figures.

The 2026 edition

Several entrants shaped the 2026 event. Wang Chuqin and Lin Shidong, the world's top-ranked men and a leading Asian Games champion respectively, did not compete as they managed their workloads. That left France's Félix Lebrun as the top seed in the men's singles, with the highest-ranked Chinese man being Wen Ruibo.

The men's singles final was won by Sora Matsushima of Japan, who defeated Lin Yun-ju of Chinese Taipei 4-3 in the final. At 19, Matsushima became the youngest China Smash champion in the event's history, shortly after reaching world number one in the rankings. Lin Yun-ju, from Taiwan, recorded his second singles runner-up finish at a WTT Smash that year. He also took silver in the mixed doubles alongside Cheng I-ching.

The result carried historical weight. Before 2026, no man from outside China had won a WTT Smash singles title in Asia in eight attempts, with the five Singapore Smash singles titles going to Chinese players. Matsushima's victory therefore ended that pattern at this event, which also had the home team absent from the men's final.

Limitations and data discrepancies

Sources differ on the schedule. The organizer's listing gives the dates as 1 to 11 October 2026, while another preview states that the main draw ran from 4 to 11 October. Prize and ranking figures come mainly from the organizer's materials and secondary reports, and some pages carry translation errors, so the dates and results above should be checked against WTT's official results.

Finally, the event's Singapore Smash counterpart and other Grand Smashes, such as those in South Korea and Sweden, are part of the same circuit, which the sport's governing body describes as the most prominent part of its calendar.
